Among the Barons

Among the Barons by Margaret Peterson Haddix is a very suspenseful book, full of unexpected twists. I recommend this book if you like mysteries, intrigue, and suspense.
Luke Garner lives in a world where it's illegal to have more than two children. As a third child himself, he has always had to stay in hiding. But when he is offered a false identity, Lee Grant, the late son of wealthy citizens, he moves to Hendricks School for boys. Several months after his arrival, however, Lee's brother, Smits, arrives at Hendricks with his suspicious bodyguard, Oscar. When Luke hears all sides of the circumstances of Lee's death, he doesn't know whom to believe. Can Smits be trusted, or Oscar? How much do they know about Luke's past? When Luke finds himself cornered into making a decision that will either cost his or Smits' freedom, how will he choose?
